History

Founded by Vivian Grant Farrell, The Horse Fund got its start on February 3, 2003 with a grassroots group of 200 advocates called Texans for Horses.

Our success in Texas garnered national attention and from that point we expanded very quickly to include horse lovers from around the United States and Canada.

The group incorporated as a 501(c)(4) non profit charitable organization in September 2003 under the name The Fund for Horses. As our influence reached beyond our shores, The Fund for Horses amended its name to Int’l Fund for Horses in June 2004.

In 2014 we re-organized as a (501)(c)(3) non profit charitable organization under the name of The Horse Fund as we shifted from primarily lobbying to increased intervention activities i.e. acting as horse industry watchdogs, and education.

The Horse Fund is governed by a Board of Directors and managed by its Officers.
